What we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have about it.
Becoming is a personal transformation app that helps you build identity-based habits through daily reflection and conscious living. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, where it's stored, and the rights you have over it.
Becoming is developed and operated by Magnus Bøen ("we," "us"), based in Norway. Magnus Bøen is the data controller responsible for your personal data under this policy.
Questions about this policy or your data can be sent to becomingapp.contact@gmail.com.
When you use Becoming, we collect the following:
All data you enter is used solely to provide the core functionality of the app — showing you your identity, tracking your wins, building your streak history, sending the reminders you set, and managing your subscription. We do not sell your data, share it for advertising, or use it to build advertising profiles.
We process this data on the basis of: performing our contract with you (delivering the app's core features and your subscription), and our legitimate interest in operating and improving the app securely.
Your data is stored using Supabase, a PostgreSQL database platform with industry-standard security practices. All data is associated with your unique user ID and protected by row-level security policies, meaning your account can only access its own data.
Becoming relies on the following third-party services to operate:
| Service | Purpose | Policy |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, authentication, account storage | supabase.com/privacy |
| Apple Sign In | Authentication | apple.com/legal/privacy |
| Google Sign In | Authentication | policies.google.com/privacy |
| RevenueCat | Subscription and entitlement management | revenuecat.com/privacy |
| Apple App Store / Google Play | Payment processing for subscriptions | apple.com/legal/privacy |
| Expo | App build and push notification delivery | expo.dev/privacy |
Some of these providers may process data on servers located outside Norway and the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where this happens, we rely on the safeguards these providers offer — such as Standard Contractual Clauses — to ensure your data remains protected to an equivalent standard.
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data — including your profile, identity data, check-ins, streaks, and authentication record — is permanently deleted from our systems.
Depending on where you live, you have some or all of the following rights over your personal data:
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at becomingapp.contact@gmail.com. We'll respond within a reasonable timeframe.
Becoming is not intended for children under 13, and in some countries the applicable minimum age may be higher (for example, 16 in parts of the European Economic Area). We do not knowingly collect data from children below the applicable minimum age for their country. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app or in applicable law. We'll notify you of any significant changes through the app, and the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision.
If you have any questions about this privacy policy or how your data is handled, reach out at becomingapp.contact@gmail.com.
